Name: Tony Wilkes
Predicted Running Time: 4.30
Why I chose ORBIS: I know a few consultant anaesthetists who have been involved in ORBIS over the years and it has always seemed to be a well-run charity that has an immediate and important impact on the people it treats.
Training Update: Training is on-track at the moment: I've got up to 20 miles, but the last mile or so was very difficult, so quite a bit more to do yet! I am aiming for 4 and half hours (it seemed possible at the time!).
Favorite Running Song: I don't listen to music whilst I am out training (too distracting) but make up for it by listening to old soul, funk and disco records to loosen up to back at home (that's probably not a nice image to give).
Favorite Running Food: For race food: after a run, or indeed any other time, my favourite meals are spicy ones such as enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, as long as they're veggie!
Interests: Not that I've got a lot of time left over with a full-time job and training for the marathon, but I have also recently started to learn to play the saxophone, something I've been meaning to do for many, many years.
Race Mantra: When I started running in Sept 2008, where it all started, I thought 'How far can I go with this?' and here I am running a marathon!
