The Problem
- More than half a million people in the Philippines are blind.
- Up to one hundred children lose their sight every week and half of these cases are either treatable or preventable.

Philippines
Capital: Manila

- The leading cause of blindness among adults is cataract. Although the treatment is simple and effective it is not accessible for poor people living in rural areas as the eye doctors work mainly in the major cities.
