L’Occitane En Provence has donated to the work of ORBIS since 2000, as part of its pledge to support visually impaired and blind people, through the annual global sales of their ‘solidarity’ soaps.
Working with women's groups in Burkina Faso, L’Occitane supports cooperatives year round whilst they grow, harvest and produce the shea butter which is used in the fundraising soaps. These soaps are specially designed and manufactured for the L’Occitane Foundation and are launched each year on World Sight Day.
L’Occitane En Provence and ORBIS celebrate a 13 year partnership. Thanks to L’Occitane En Province’s
generosity which to date exceeds $1.8 million, the following projects have been funded:
- Paediatric Eye Care Services and Rural Outreach
Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology Andhra Pradesh, India
- Chittagong Flying Eye Hospital Programme November 2005
- Paediatric Eye Care Services and Rural Outreach
Moulvibazar BNSB June 2004 – May 2008
- Islamia Eye Hospital, Dhaka May 2008 – December 2012
