Celebrating a ten year partnership with ORBIS and a commitment to helping the visually impaired and the blind, L’Occitane En Provence has launched its third global campaign selling specially designed soaps made for ORBIS in West Africa. The L’Occitane ‘Tales of Africa’ soap sets are on sale in all L’Occitane stores from World Sight Day onwards with all the proceeds going to ORBIS in support of a rural sight saving project in Bangladesh.
Working with women's group in Burkina Faso, L’Occitane supports the women’s cooperative year round whilst they grow, harvest and produce the shea butter which is used for these soaps. The women are pleased to be contributing to the work of ORBIS as it tackles the global issues of blindness prevention. The packaging and the name are a reflection of the origins and inspiration behind the product, rural life in Burkina Faso. ORBIS will begin providing eye care to these communities in Burkina Faso, in 2011, thanks to this further support from L'Occitane.
Funds raised previously have been donated to a rural eye care project in Bangladesh. Partnering with Islamia Eye Hospital in Dhaka, three eye hospitals and two vision centres are being built and staffed in three rural districts. This will provide eye care services to communities who previously had no access to eye care and will fulfill a need in the area.
ORBIS is proud to be part of such a fantastic initiative and thanks L'Occitane for its support.
