Other Ways of Giving

Matching Gifts
Double the impact of your gift to ORBIS by asking your employer to make a matching gift. Contact a human resources representative at your workplace to see if your company offers a matching gift incentive.

Employee Giving
United Way
If your employer promotes charitable giving through United Way, you can designate a set amount to ORBIS on a monthly basis, through payroll deductions.

Simply write in “ORBIS International” as your charity of choice on the United Way registration form.

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) - #10063
ORBIS is listed in CFC's official listing of National Organizations. If you wish to donate to ORBIS through the CFC, simply check #10063 and your contribution will be forwarded to us.

If you would like more information on giving through CFC or United Way, please see the bottom of the page for contact details.

Planned giving
Make a lasting difference by naming ORBIS as a beneficiary in your will. You may designate ORBIS International as the beneficiary of a percentage of your estate, or you can designate a set amount or a particular asset. In the United States, your estate is entitled to an estate tax deduction for the full value of your bequest to ORBIS. Consult an estate planning professional or an attorney to help you create an estate plan that is appropriate for you. ORBIS is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Our federal ID number is 23-7297651.

Donate stocks and securities
ORBIS gratefully accepts securities and mutual funds as charitable donations. If your financial services provider holds securities, including mutual funds, in your account, you can have the securities electronically transferred to ORBIS . Your gift is complete on the date that the stock is transferred. The value of your gift will be the mean value of the stock on the day it is transferred. This is the most efficient way to transfer securities.

If you have stock certificates you would like to donate, please send the unendorsed certificate and a signed stock power, available from your financial services provider, in separate envelopes to ORBIS International, 520 8th Avenue, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10018. Your gift will be complete on the date of the postmark of the second envelope. It is ORBIS policy to sell all gifts of securities as soon as ORBIS is notified of the transfer by its stockbroker. The proceeds are then applied to ORBIS programs and related activities.

Why are two envelopes required?
One is for the unendorsed certificate and one for the signed stock power form. Mailing unendorsed certificates or endorsed stock power in one envelope makes the stock certificate legal tender. Thus, for security reasons we ask that they be sent in two envelopes.

Please note that in the United States, if you would like to donate stock that has depreciated in value, selling the stock yourself and donating the amount you receive may enable you to write off the loss on your taxes.

eBay Giving Works
Through eBay, The World's Online Marketplace®, you can sell items you no longer wish to keep and have all or part of the proceeds go directly to ORBIS. Similarly, you can also select items whose proceeds have been marked for ORBIS. See eBay Giving Works to learn how to take advantage of this opportunity.
