What is the Cape Argus Cycle Tour?

The Cape Argus is a unique cycling event in South Africa, a bike adventure through the beautiful mountains of the Cape Peninsular, overlooking Cape Town and the Atlantic Ocean. It is also the first ever cycle tour outside of Europe to be included the International Cycling Union's Golden Bike Series.

Who Takes Part in the Cape Argus?

The Cape Argus Cycle race is actually the world’s biggest cycling event of its kind with 35,000 people cycling this beautiful bike route every year. It includes professional endurance cyclists as well as casual cyclists taking on the bike tour at their own pace, this makes Cape-Argus one of the most accessible mountain biking adventures around. The Cape Argus takes pride in being a biking trip for everyone, including kids, with a Tricycle Tour (for under 6s) and a Junior Cycle Tour (for ages 6-12).

The Cape Argus Cycle Tour is in South Africa, how I /my bike will get there!?

You will be part of the ORBIS cycle team, and ORBIS will arrange your flight for you including carefully transporting your bike for the event on South African Airways to and from the event, all costs are built into your fundraising target.

What is the Cape Argus Route?

The Cycle Route is scenic trail around Jewel of South Africa’s crown. Beginning in Central Cape Town, your cycle trip will head down Nelson Mandela Boulevard toward the Cape Peninsula through False Bay, Simons Town, Smitswinkel Bay, The Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain National Park, Cape point, then back along the Atlantic Coast through Scarborugh, Kommetje, Noordhoek, Chapmans Peak, Hout Bay over Suikerbossie Hill to Camps Bay and ends next to the Cape Town Stadium in Green point. Cheering crowds, refreshment stations, your team mates and the Cape Town’s unbeatable surroundings will keep you going throughout your adventure cycle tour.
